FreeBSD complete newbie here,

I'm trying to configure my first freeBSD firewall using freeBSD STABLE 4.9
and IPFilter. I am using the how-to at the following link:

http://www.schlacter.net/public/FreeBSD-STABLE_and_IPFILTER.html

When I try to compile tripwire, it has multiple errors and errors out. If I
go ahead and try to run install.sh, I get an error - /siggen missing. Can
anybody help me quick? I need to get this firewall box up and running ASAP.

Thanks so much,

Brian

I compiled it from ports with a "make install" - no problems. This was
under 4.9-STABLE a few months ago.

i.e.

cd /usr/ports/security/tripwire
make install

and I was done.

talk / freebsd 4.8-stable - hi group for some reason (probably after a buildworld) my talk utility stopped working. I thought initially it might have been due to inetd.conf being overwritten but this is not the case: [snip] # ntalk is required for the 'talk' utility to work..
